A major milestone for healthcare in Mpumalanga as President Cyril Ramaphosa officially opens the new King Nyabela District Hospital in Middelburg today.

The state-of-the-art 220-bed facility is expected to strengthen healthcare services and improve access to quality medical care for communities across the Nkangala District.

The hospital replaces the old Middelburg Hospital and is expected to improve access to quality healthcare for communities across the Nkangala District. The modern facility includes operating theatres, a 24-hour emergency unit, and high-care services.

The opening ceremony is attended by Health Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, Mpumalanga Premier Mandla Ndlovu, traditional leaders and members of the local community. The new hospital is expected to serve thousands of patients and strengthen public healthcare services in the province.
